Arrival to Campus
All on campus housing for the conference has been reserved in Jackson Hall, on Villanova’s West Campus. GPS will give you complete directions to Jackson Hall. Please note the following: traffic enters West Campus by way of a manned a guardpost, and the guard can help direct you to the appropriate parking outside Jackson Hall. Villanova will have a welcome table set up in Jackson Hall to distribute room keys and other check in materials, from 3 to 6pm on June 2nd. If you arrive after that time, please just come to the Villanova Room, or contact James Matthew Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org. He will have in his possession all room keys not distributed before 6pm.
Those who are staying in area hotels can simply park at the St. Augustine Center.
In every instance, simply tell the guard you are attending a conference on campus and you will be given any parking pass necessary (because it is a weekend in summer, the guards may not be requiring any passes be displayed in parked cars).
On Campus Housing
All attendees who elected to stay on campus have been assigned an apartment. If you requested a suitemate or are traveling as part of a group, you have been accommodated. If not, you have been assigned to an apartment with one other person. Everyone should have a private bedroom and bathroom; linens will be provided. On campus, you can log into “VUGuest” for wireless internet access.
Getting Around Campus
The walk from West Campus to Main Campus is short; to get from West to Main, one must either cross over the train tracks using the bridge/overpass on Spring Mill Road, or proceed to the Villanova Train Station, where there is an underground tunnel beneath the tracks (the station is nearly impossible to miss; a new tunnel is under construction, and so you will see some fencing and construction equipment, as well as signs directing you to the current tunnel). Parking is available both on West and Main campus. To access Main campus by car, you must use the guard post just off Ithan Road. If you request to park in the St. Augustine Center parking garage, you will be a very (very) short walk from the Villanova Room of the Connelly Center, and a somewhat longer walk from Dougherty Hall, whose East Lounge will be the venue on Saturday and Sunday. Total walking time between Jackson Hall and Dougherty East is no more than 10 minutes. See here for campus map.
Please find the official program for the conference here. The start times for some of the events have been in flux, so check the Friday night schedule here. You can register for the conference anytime between 5 and 7pm, outside the Villanova Room in the Connelly Center (lower level), which is right in the middle of Main Campus.
The APL will convene at 6pm for a happy hour reception; dinner will be served at 7; at 7:30, Mark Shiffman will deliver his keynote address. At 9pm, everyone is welcome to stay and continue visiting; the bar will remain open until 11pm. All food and drink for the weekend is included with your conference registration.
Please note that, on Saturday and Sunday, you should come to Dougherty Hall, East Lounge, where all the program for those days will be held. If you are arriving on those days, see James Matthew Wilson, as he should have registration materials for you.
Our last conference panel will be held on Sunday morning, in Dougherty East, beginning at 10am; a light breakfast will be available from 9am onward. Everyone staying on campus must check out of Jackson Hall between 8 and 10am. If you need any assistance on Sunday, including finding a suitable place to wait for a cab, etc., please just ask James Matthew Wilson.
